The Queensland wholesale electricity market is experiencing extreme and consistent price volatility never previously seen. Unfortunately, LPE is no longer in a position to provide competitive rates to our (on market) residential and business customers in the Queensland region.
The rolling average cost of wholesale electricity for the month of May is trading at $380 MWh compared to the end of April last year when it was sitting at $53 MWh. This is an increase of 611%.
We are now faced with no alternative but to significantly increase our rates.
We are grateful for your support of LPE but know it is not in your best interests to continue to have your electricity supplied by us due to the financial impact these price rises will have.
We strongly recommend that you seek an alternative supplier immediately to avoid extremely high electricity bills.
