What is a Centralised Hot Water System?
A Centralised Hot Water System is where a single, larger water heating solution supplies hot water to multiple outlets or units within a building or a complex. Instead of individual water heaters being installed in each apartment, room, or floor, the central unit heats and distributes water through a network of pipes. This type of system is commonly used in apartment buildings, hotels, and large commercial properties to provide a consistent and efficient supply of hot water. Can we replace our Gas Centralised Hot Water System with an energy efficient electric system?
As a crucial step towards Australia achieving net zero emissions by 2050 under its Long Term Emissions Reduction Plan, residential apartment building design is transitioning away from fossil fuel consuming technology and infrastructure, such as gas-fuelled hot water plants. Focus is now on the electrification and decarbonisation of these services to take advantage of sustainable, renewable energy generation.
To assist in achieving these outcomes, LPE has developed its solar off-set centralised hot water solution, which uses on-site solar electricity generation to offset the energy consumption of an already highly efficient centralised electric heat pump system. The result is a reliable, environmentally friendly hot water solution that provides constant low-cost hot water that significantly reduces a community’s carbon emissions and footprint, as well as future proofs and protects it against rising energy prices. To assist the Body Corporate and members of that community, LPE will fund, supply and install the Solar PV and Hot Water systems as well as fully maintain these systems for the entire contract term.
