Solstice Swim - 2021

The Sunny Coast Winter Solstice Swim was held on Sunday June 27th at Alex SLSC

This year the event was in aid of Sunshine Coast charity, SalTy Souls Legacy. SalTy Souls is a legacy charity set up in loving memory of Tyler Kennedy who tragically passed away in 2017.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support the 2021 Solstice Swim and congratulations to the all who took part on the day! It was a cold day but that didn't stop hundreds of local swimmers taking the plunge in the name of a great cause!

This amazing event exceeded financial expectations and Alexandra Headland Rotary Club announced that the funds would go towards opening an official HQ for SalTy Souls Legacy on Aerodrome Road in Maroochydore! The Thrive centre will be a place for kids and teens to partake in workshops, meetings and surf programs that will help them 'ride the waves' mentally and physically.

You can follow the SalTy Souls story on Facebook or Instagram or via the website www.saltysoulslegacy.org and show your support however you can. SalTy Souls Legacy are currently looking for shipping containers / demountables to refurbish the youth centre and are always accepting donations of surf & softboards, bodyboards, leg ropes, fins, wax, sunscreen & wetsuits. You can donate directly to the charity here: https://www.saltysoulslegacy.org/donate

The Sunshine Coast has some amazing volunteer groups doing some fantastic work with helping all members of the community, and the SalTy Souls group are a great example of the passion that a family have to create a legacy for a lost loved one.

LPE are proud supporters of the Alexandra Headland Rotary Club and SalTy Souls Legacy.
